My Community Rediscovered: What is a Municipal Comprehensive Review?

In order to plan and accommodate this growth the County is working closely with our local municipalities to review and update our Official Plan through a provincially mandated process called a Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR). The purpose of this review is to thoroughly implement the policies set out in the 2019 A Place to Grow Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

Did you know that Dufferin County is expected to grow to approximately 85,000 people and 32,000 jobs by 2041? This represents an increase in 23,265 people and 7,646 jobs according to the 2016 Census data.

The key areas of focus include:

  • Growth management to look at intensification, employment, housing and servicing in our community
  • Integrated Planning to incorporate planning in the areas of transportation, infrastructure to support services and growth as well as agriculture and the natural heritage system
  • Environment and sustainability to ensure we protect and conserve the important natural resources in our community

One key element of this review process is to engage with people in our community! We want to hear from you.
