Older adults playing chess

As the senior population across Canadian communities continues to grow, it is more important than ever to support the health and wellbeing of older Canadians. Dufferin County is a vibrant community experiencing population and economic growth and development. With the growing community and ageing population, Dufferin County has initiated an Older Adult Services Review (OASR).

This work aims to assess the current state of older adult services, identify gaps, and propose tailored recommendations to meet the current and future needs of older adults across Dufferin County.

Development of the OASR aligns with the County’s core values identified within the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan of collaboration, accountability, innovation, compassion, and courage. The OASR will support Dufferin County’s mission to provide programs and services that will foster a thriving, equitable and resilient community.

Importantly, Dufferin County is also undertaking a Master Housing Strategy which will assess more specifically the housing and support needs of older adults in the County.

It is expected that the final Strategy be presented to Council in the fall of this year (2024).
