On average, households throw away about $1500 worth of food per year. A large portion of this food waste is edible, and includes healthy food like fruits and vegetables.

Take the Plan to Save Challenge this fall to waste less food, save more money and eat healthier in the process! Spend 5 weeks learning about your food waste habits and gain skills and build habits to reduce food waste in your household! Don't miss out on the chance to reduce your food waste and win $400 in prizes!

The challenge begins on October 25th and will run for 5 weeks, with the final challenge releasing the week of November 22nd.

Steps:

1) Sign up by 11:59pm on Friday October 22nd for the chance to win a $100 gift certificate to a grocery store* or local restaurant** of your choice! Please fill out the sign up form below to officially enter the challenge! Participants will have the option to receive a Plan to Save kit, which will include printed resources to help you with the activities, plus a reusable shopping bag, produce bag, food bag clips, a magnet, and more!

2) Subscribe to the project (see the right panel) by entering your email address so you can receive weekly challenges in your inbox. This is important to follow the challenge and be entered into the weekly draws!

3) Start the challenge & win prizes! The challenge begins on Monday, October 25th. For each challenge, we will have 4 additional draws for $50 gift certificates, plus one $100 gift certificate for the final challenge. All gift certificates will be for a grocery store or local restaurant of choice. To be entered in each draw, complete each challenge and share your findings in the Food For Thought section. Bonus entries available for those who share photos in the Share Photos section!


*Accepted grocery stores include any store that primarily sell groceries, such as Metro, No Frills, Sobeys, Zehrs, etc. Retail stores that include groceries like Walmart are not accepted.

**Only restaurants local to Dufferin County are accepted.
