Last summer, Dufferin Waste distributed over 4500 door hangers in urban residential areas throughout Dufferin County. The purpose of the campaign was to provide residents with feedback and education on items found in their Blue Boxes to help them properly sort misplaced items to avoid contamination.
Data from that campaign showed that the top 5 misplaced items in Blue Boxes include plastic film/bags, take-out containers, paper towel, napkins and tissues, un-rinsed containers, and coffee cups. Starting on July 27, 2020 one item will be highlighted each week to provide education on how to sort it out and why it is not accepted in Dufferin County’s Blue Box program!
