Why are some services excluded from the review?

Reviewing all services in a 7-8 month time frame would not allow for the kind of in-depth review required to make meaningful recommendations for modernizing services.

Some specific services such as Waste and Paramedic Services were excluded because they are currently being reviewed at the provincial level and it is necessary to understand the impact of those changes before looking at changing locally. Waste Services is transitioning to 100% producer responsibility for recycling which may dramatically change the municipal scope.

Will there be opportunities for face to face public engagement?

Although we had hoped to provide some in person engagement, we are now looking at opportunities for residents to provide feedback virtually. Stay tuned for more information!

Is this a cost cutting exercise?

No. This project is about modernizing services with innovative approaches and technology to mitigate costs in the future.

How has the COVID 19 pandemic impacted the Service Delivery Review?

Due to the need to focus on responding to the COVID 19 pandemic the SDR was put on hold for a few months. It is now back up and running and is expected to be completed by December of this year. The provincial government recognized that projects would be delayed and extended the deadline for completion.
